posting songs to 360
I had to ask how to do this when I learned and since we have friends who want to know how to post songs in their blasts and blogs. So instead of sending individual messages and having to re-write them for each I thought I'd just post the instructions here for you all. This stuff is a little confusing, but the more times you do it, the easier it becomes and you get to know each site better the more you use them.
Okey Dokey, let's see here...
1st of all you need to have the songs already down-loaded on your pc. Get them from ur cd's, buy them on line and/or dwn-load them from any source you want as long as the music files are on ur pc where you can find them. IE., my music, my documents, or whatever file you wish to call them. I suggest you put them under my music. Managing these files may become necessary if the file becomes too big for ur hard drive. Oh shit, rambling again...
Posting songs in ur blast;
On ur home page of 360 at the bottom of the left hand column you will find ur blast message section. Just below where you type in changes to ur blast u will find the add a "url" section. This is where the copies of the files go after u've uploaded the song to a document storage provider. You see, for music files to be played in ur blast they have to come from the web and Not ur pc, so u'll have to start an account with a file storage provider. I use
http://www.fileden.com but their are others. I'm cheap, and this one is Free. Each has their own site set-ups that you will have to learn to navigate around in, but the key here is to up-load the music file u wish to post and then get the "url" from the storage provider (on fileden u'll need to go to ur files, find the file u want, right click on the file, select properties, click on the url option), copy and paste it in the add a "url" to ur blast message section and Save...
Posting songs on ur blogs;
This is something I'm only just beginning to get familiar with and I use two different sites for this. The 1st being project playlist, but they've changed their site and it's become too hard for me to figure out anymore so I've switched over to
http://www.imeem.com where it's easier for me to navigate around on. Imeem has songs posted from 100's of 1000's of user on their site that have already been up-loaded so u may not have to up-load a song there. If you do a search for the song and get the desired result for it just click on the song. It should start to play.. Look for the "Embed" section and copy the entire code. Start a new blog, at the top right of the section where you plan to write there is a small box with view HTML Source after it, check the box and paste the code into the body of the blog(where you write, "the body"... hmm, sounds funny huh?), after you've pasted the code which will look foreign to ya, cause it does to me, un-check the box and poof! thr it is... you can write all u want after you've done this and the song will remain at the top of your blog. cool huh?
Opps, 4got to say that u can up-load a song 2 Imeem too by starting an account there aswell. Of course, It's free too. I use the web up-loader. after u've up-loaded ur song to the site just click on the file and IT should start playing too, just like the ones u search for. Then just copy the embed code, check the box, paste and un-check the box. Now if u want to add a song AFTER u've posted a blog it gets REALLY tricky. I suggest u skip it and start a new blog. It CAN be done, but it would take some step by step instructions that I'm not sure I have the expertise to explain fully. I don't know the lingo that well. The Characters are called domaflichy's and whatdoyamacallit's in my form of speech. Sorry, I'm a little simple...
Well, I hope this helps some of you and if not,, send me a message and I'll do my best to help. The biggest problem I have is having invalid characters in the title of the songs.. Just remove those characters, ie; ', #, &, and so on from the file name on the song file on ur pc and they should then load just fine. Good Luck, me...
