Ever wonder how the smurfs reproduced, especially considering that there was only one female, smurfett?Now this is a perfectly fine reproductive cycle if papa and the i presume late mama smurf had all hundred some odd smurfs. With the assumption, being female was a very rare trait and moma smurf probably died during childbirth. Now comes the tricky part.....if there was no mama smurf, then smurfette and papa smurf would be the parents of all the rest of the smurfs, thus smurfs would have an incredibly short gestation period. If smurfette and papa smurf were having sexual relations, would it not have been incest? Ok, here is where everything breaks down, several years into the show, they introduce baby smurfsW was smurfette the mother, considering she was the only female? Who was the father? Was it another incestuous relationship? was smurfette a slut? Is incest the reason why no smurf is born with all traits present. For example, most of the smurfs were known by the trait they received (i.e. brainy smurf) and no smurf received all the traits.If none of the above stuff is true, were the smurfs asexual? that can't be true, b/c they already distiquish themselves as being male or female.
